Venue: Member's Home

A new book group is running on the 3rd Monday of each month at 2.00pm, at my home in Seaway Lane, Chelston. Members are encouraged to propose books, chosen primarily from recently published, award-winning fiction.

Books must be available in paperback, Kindle or Audio format & should also be available to borrow from the library shelves or from Torbay Libraries Borrow Box.

The book we have chosen for April 2026 is The Leavers by Lisa Ko.

Set in New York and China, The Leavers is a vivid and moving examination of borders and belonging. It’s the story of how one boy comes into his own when everything he’s loved has been taken away--and how a mother learns to live with the mistakes of her past.

This powerful debut is the winner of the 2016 PEN/Bellwether Prize for fiction, awarded by Barbara Kingsolver for a novel that addresses issues of social justice.

Numbers are limited for this group so that every member has a chance to share their thoughts.
